How ASPIRE Helps Your Family

Getting help for a parent shouldn't be this confusing.

Watching a parent struggle with mobility, recovery, or daily tasks is hard — and figuring out how to help can feel overwhelming. Who do you call? Does insurance cover it? Will they even agree to go? ASPIRE Therapy and Wellness works with families across the Louisville and Boulder area to take the guesswork out of it.

We provide physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy for older adults — whether your loved one lives in a senior living community where we're the contracted provider, or comes to our outpatient clinic in Louisville. You can schedule on a parent's behalf, attend their evaluation, and stay involved in their care. We treat therapy as a partnership — with the patient and with the family supporting them.

Our team is independently owned and therapist-led, with deep expertise in the conditions that matter most for aging adults: fall prevention, post-surgical recovery, stroke rehabilitation, Parkinson's disease, and cognitive change.

Where to Start

Three common situations

Most families come to us in one of these three situations. Find the one that fits — it points you to the right next step.

My parent lives in a senior living community

ASPIRE is the contracted, on-site therapy provider for senior living communities across Colorado's Front Range. Ask your parent's community whether ASPIRE is their provider — if so, your loved one can receive PT, OT, and speech therapy right where they live.

My parent lives at home

Our outpatient clinic in Louisville serves community members directly. We also focus on fall prevention and balance so your parent can stay safely independent at home longer.

Schedule an evaluation →

My parent is recovering from surgery, a hospital stay, or a stroke

Recovery doesn't end at hospital discharge. ASPIRE provides post-surgical rehabilitation, stroke recovery, and follow-up therapy to help your parent rebuild strength, mobility, and function — and avoid a return trip to the hospital.

How We Help

The therapy services that matter most for aging adults

Whatever your parent is facing, our PT, OT, and speech therapists coordinate as one team — so a loved one with overlapping needs gets one connected plan, not three disconnected ones.

Fall Prevention & Balance

Balance training and strength work to reduce fall risk — one of the biggest threats to an older adult's independence.

Post-Surgical Rehabilitation

Recovery after joint replacement, fracture, or other surgery — rebuilding strength and mobility safely.

Stroke Recovery

Coordinated PT, OT, and speech therapy to help your parent regain movement, daily skills, and communication after a stroke.

Parkinson's Therapy

LSVT BIG and LSVT LOUD certified care for movement, balance, voice, and swallowing. Learn more →

Fall Prevention & Balance

In-clinic balance and strength work to reduce fall risk — helping your parent stay safely independent for longer.

Dementia & Cognitive Support

Occupational and speech therapy to support memory, communication, daily routines, and safety as cognition changes.

Swallowing (Dysphagia) Therapy

If your parent coughs or chokes when eating or drinking, speech therapy can restore safe, comfortable swallowing.

Speech & Communication

Therapy for word-finding, slurred speech, and language changes — helping your parent stay connected to family.

Signs to Watch For

Signs your parent may benefit from therapy

You know your parent better than anyone. If you've noticed any of these, it may be time for an evaluation — earlier is almost always better:

New or increasing difficulty with stairs, getting up from a chair, or walking

A recent fall — or a growing fear of falling

Recovering from surgery, a hospital stay, or a stroke

Changes in memory, word-finding, or communication

Coughing or choking when eating or drinking

A Parkinson's diagnosis or worsening Parkinson's symptoms

Struggling with daily tasks like dressing, bathing, or cooking

Declining strength, balance, or activity level

Getting Started

How to get help for your loved one

You don't need to have it all figured out before you call. Here's how the process works:

1

Reach out — call 303-963-5582

Tell us about your loved one's situation. There's no wrong question — we'll listen and point you in the right direction, even if that turns out to be somewhere other than ASPIRE.

2

We help you find the right path

Whether that's our Louisville outpatient clinic, or confirming whether ASPIRE is the therapy provider at your parent's senior living community — we'll make it clear.

3

Schedule the evaluation

You can book the appointment on your parent's behalf and attend it with them. Bringing a family member to the first visit is encouraged — it helps everyone stay on the same page.

4

Stay involved throughout care

We keep families informed and included in the plan of care. You'll understand what's being worked on, how it's going, and how you can support progress at home.

Why Families Choose ASPIRE

A team that treats your family like family

We're independently owned and therapist-led. Every clinical decision is made by therapists, for the benefit of patients — not by a corporate chain optimizing quarterly earnings. Here's what that means for your loved one:

3-in-1

Coordinated PT, OT & Speech

One team across all three disciplines — so a parent with overlapping needs gets one connected plan, not three disconnected providers.

1:1

Every visit, one-on-one

Every session is with a licensed therapist — we don't use therapy aides or techs, ever. Your parent gets a clinician's full attention.

Both

Senior living & outpatient

We serve both senior living communities and our Louisville outpatient clinic — so wherever your parent is, we can likely help.

Frequently Asked

Questions families ask us

Don't see your question? Call 303-963-5582 or send us a message.

Can I schedule therapy for my parent?

Yes. Adult children and caregivers regularly schedule on a loved one's behalf. Call 303-963-5582 and we'll walk you through it. We'll just need some basic information and your parent's consent to be evaluated.

Can I attend my parent's evaluation?

Absolutely — we encourage it. Having a family member at the first visit helps everyone understand the plan of care, the home exercises, and how to support progress. Your parent decides who's involved, but families are welcome.

Does Medicare cover therapy for my parent?

In most cases, yes — Medicare covers medically necessary physical, occupational, and speech therapy. For Medicare patients, ASPIRE requires a physician's order before starting therapy, which protects coverage and continuity of care. Call 303-963-5582 and we'll verify your parent's specific benefits before the first visit.

How do I know if my parent actually needs therapy?

If you've noticed new difficulty with walking or stairs, a fall or fear of falling, changes in memory or communication, trouble swallowing, or a decline in strength or daily independence — an evaluation is worth it. The evaluation itself is informative: a therapist will tell you honestly whether therapy can help. There's no obligation to continue if it's not the right fit.

My parent is resistant to therapy — what can I do?

This is one of the most common things families tell us. Resistance often comes from fear of losing independence or not wanting to be "a burden." It can help to frame therapy as a way to stay independent, not a sign of decline — and to start with just the evaluation, with no commitment. Our therapists are experienced at building trust with reluctant patients. Call us and we can share approaches that have worked for other families.

My parent lives in a senior living community — how do they get therapy?

ASPIRE is the contracted, on-site therapy provider for senior living communities across Colorado's Front Range. Ask your parent's community whether ASPIRE is their provider. If so, your parent can receive therapy right where they live. If not, our Louisville outpatient clinic is an option. See our senior living partnerships.

Can therapy help my parent stay in their home longer?

Yes — that's one of the most valuable things therapy does. Through fall prevention, strength and balance work, and mobility training, our team helps older adults stay safely independent at home for as long as possible.

My parent just had surgery or a stroke — when should therapy start?

Generally, the sooner the better. Early therapy after surgery, a hospital stay, or a stroke leads to better outcomes. If your parent was discharged with a recommendation for outpatient therapy, call us right away — we evaluate most new patients quickly so recovery doesn't lose momentum.

Do you treat patients with dementia or Alzheimer's?

Yes. Our occupational and speech therapists support patients with dementia — working on cognitive strategies, safe daily routines, communication, and swallowing safety. We also coach families and caregivers on how to support a loved one through cognitive change.

How do I get started?
